It was another shining evening for the Gujarat Titans against the Rajasthan Royals, as they beat the 2008 Indian Premier League champions by 58 runs on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The away side won the toss and was picked to bowl first. Sanju Samson and company’s calculation did not work, as they gave away 217 runs at the cost of six wickets in 20 overs.
India international Sai Sudarshan played a beautiful knock of 82 in 53 balls. Getting support from Shah Rukh Khan’s 36 and Jos Buttler’s 36 made Gujarat give a massive target of 218 to the visitors.
In-form Mohammed Siraj took just one wicket. However, he did get the baking from Gujarat’s bowling unit. Pardid Krishna clinched three wickets, followed by Rashid Khan and Ravi Srinivasan Sai Kishore taking two apiece.
For the first time in the IPL 2025, Rashid looked good with the bowl. Shimron Hetmyer tried to score 52 runs. Even RR captain Sanju Samson did open well, scoring 41 in 28 balls.
But other players did not shine in a manner the team would have predicted. As a result, Rajasthan faced a humiliating 58-run defeat.
