For Rachin Ravindra, the 2025 Champions Trophy final, had mixed feelings. The young cricketer won the Player of the Tournament, scoring 263 runs and taking three wickets for New Zealand.
However, his team lost the final match against India in Dubai by four wickets. The in-from Ravindra scored quick 37 runs in 29 balls but was not able to score big.
Speaking after winning the Player of the Tournament award, Ravindra said to Star Sports: “It was a great final and we played good cricket. Congratulations to India. I enjoy performing in the ICC tournaments and my aim is that we make it to the final of the big events. The trophy would have been an icing on the cake but cricket can sometimes be a cruel sport. All 15 players played a role in our performance in this Champions Trophy.”
Ravindra scored a century against South Africa in the semi-finals. However, in both the final and group-stage games against India, he was not able to shine with the bat.
Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell scoring half-centuries helped New Zealand score 251/7 in 50 overs. However, the total was chased well by India in Dubai.
