Lucknow Super Giants beat Kolkata Knight Riders by four runs at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
After losing the toss, the Lucknow Super Giants had to bat first. The top order of the away side did bat very well. Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh set up a great opening partnership.
Markram’s 47 runs in 28 balls and Marsh’s 81 in 48 deliveries helped LSG set up a good base. Then star player Nicholas Pooran took it forward, blasting 87 in just 36 balls.
In 20 overs, Rishabh Pant’s side managed to score 238 runs at the cost of three wickets in 20 overs.
As the target of 239 was huge to chase for the home side, the pressure was a lot on KKR batsmen. Quinton de Kock lost his wicket after adding just 15 runs.
However, his opening partner Sunil Narine added a quick 30 runs in 13 balls.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane took the responsibility and played a beautiful knock of 61 in 35. He did get the support of Venkatesh Iyer, adding 45 runs in just 29 balls.
Rinku Singh’s firing of 38 not out in 15 balls made things utterly close in the final over. However, LSG adding 238 helped them to win the game by just four runs.
But the game went in a way, both sides can take positives and negatives.
On the one hand, LSG have won three of the first five games. On the other hand, KKR have lost three of the opening five matches.
