Dwayne Bravo, who is the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor, backs the team’s batsmen and bowlers ahead of facing the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens on 3 April.
KKR, under the new captain Ajinkya Rahane, has not started the 2025 well. After three games, they are sitting at the bottom of the IPL table with just two points. On Monday, Mumbai Indians beat the defending champions by 8 wickets.
In the IPL opener last month, they lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru but then beat Rajasthan Royals in the following game.
Looking at both the batting and bowling lineup of KKR not doing well, KKR mentor Bravo feels backs the team’s batsmen and bowlers hours before locking horns with SRH.
He said: “You have to try to out-think the batter and be brave. You will see that with our bowling group. The batters are not having that value on the wicket any more.”
He added: “We have an aggressive batting line-up, but that’s not cricket. My message to the batters is that the basics of the game are still required. These guys need to apply themselves a bit more, and I think they understand that.”
Bravo believes that KKR have all the tools to give SRH major challenges.
He told the media: “We’re not the only team that has two losses and one win. It’s important for us to bounce back and that is our main focus right now.”
Even SRH are approaching this game after facing back-to-back defeats. Both sides have won just one of their first three matches this season.
