Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered the second consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League 2025, outdoing Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Ruturaj Gaekwad’s side won the toss and picked to bowl first. The decision, in the end, backfired Chennai as they gave away 196 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.
New RCB captain Rajat Patidar led from the front, adding the highest 51 runs in 32 balls. Just like in the IPL opener against the Kolkata Knight Riders last Saturday, opening pair Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave a decent start.
Salt added 32 runs, while Kohli contributed with 31 runs. Noor Ahmed did take three wickets for 36 runs in four overs but was not able to take wickets in crucial moments for the home side.
In-from Rachin Ravindra scored 41 runs in 31 balls. But others did not contribute well with the bat. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaekwad got out without scoring even a run.
And just like Ruturaj, the experienced batting lineup of CSK failed to shine while cashing 197 runs total.
At last, CSK lost their first game in the IPL 2025. RCB collected two more crucial points, leading the IPL table with four points after two games.
