Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her emotions, hugging owner Nita Ambani after the Mumbai Indians won their second Women’s Premier League (WPL) title on Saturday.
At the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, the MI beat the Delhi Capitals by eight runs in a very close contest. The DC won the toss and chose to field first.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored 66 runs in just 44 balls, helping the MI to put 149 runs to the board at the cost of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Kaur did get backing from teammate Nat Siver, who scored a crucial 30 in 28 deliveries. The MI then did not let the DC make good partnerships. Only Marijanne Cup did well, adding 40 runs.
But Meg Lanning’s side did not able to score big as a result they lost the 2025 WPL final. Even in the opening season of the WPL back in 2023, the MI beat the DC by 7 wickets.
For the Delhi Capitals, this was another sad end to the tournament as they are the only side to reach all three WPL finals, but have lost all of them.
In 2024, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat the DC by eight wickets on their home soil at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium.
