As per the IANS reports, Axar Patel is set to become the captain of the Dehli Capitals as KL Rahul has reportability said to play as a player rather than captain.
Rahul previously led the Lucknow Super Giants and the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League. Both KL and Axar are coming to the IPL 2025 after winning the 2025 Champions Trophy.
This would be Axar’s first time leading a side in the IPL.
“Yes, Axar Patel is likely to be named as Delhi Capitals skipper for IPL 2025. The franchise had asked for KL Rahul to be the team’s captain, but he very much wishes to contribute for the side as a player in the upcoming tournament,” sources told IANS.
KL did not have a great time as captain for the Lucknow Super Giants, possibly tempting him to play as a player first.
The DC will face the LSG in their first IPL 2025 match on 24 March at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium.
