The defending champions Real Madrid lost the first leg of the Champions Legaue last-8 3-0 against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
After a goalless first half in North London, Declan Rice surprised the football world by scoring two goals via free-kick. And what makes it even better for Arsenal is that Rice has never scored a free-kick goal before.
Mikel Merino then added a goal in the 75th minute and led the Gunners have a 3-0 advantage.
Not scoring a goal away from home has put pressure on Real manager Carlo Ancelotti. But he said after losing the first leg that anything is possible in next midweek’s clash.
Real boss said: “We’ve done it many times and it’s time to do it again. It’s complicated, but we have to try from the first minute to the last.”
Ancelotti’s side did win the Champions Legaue last season and are one of the key favourites to win it again this season.
However, losing the first leg of UCL’s quarters 3-0 has put them behind. Real have won the games many times from uncomfortable positions. It is something that makes Ancelotti confident of turning the tables.
