Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls as the Mumbai Indians beat the Chennai Super Kings by nine wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
After winning the toss, MI chose to field first. Only the middle-order of CSK performed well. Ayush Mhatre’s 32 runs were followed by Ravindra Jadeja blasting 52 and Shivam Dubey scoring 50.
Yet again, MS Dhoni didn’t make the soundest impact, scoring just four runs. Jasprit Bumrah’s impact worked well as he took wickets for the in-form Dubey and Dhoni.
CSK were able to add just 176 runs at the cost of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Ryan Rickelton started things well with Rohit. However, Rickelton did score just 24 runs.
Indian duo Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit then took things in hand and chased the total in 15.4 overs.
Suryakumar took just 30 balls to score 68 runs – not out. Rohit Sharma finished the innings with a match-winning 74 runs.
After eight matches, sixth-placed MI have collected eight points. With just four points in eight matches, CSK are standing on the bottom position.
