After losing the IPL opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 7 wickets on Saturday (22 March), Kolkata Knight Riders managed to make a strong comeback on Wednesday. Ajinkya Rahane side beat Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets in 17.3 overs.
It means Rajasthan Royals have now lost their first two IPL matches in 2025. Last Sunday, Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a massive 44-run victory over RR.
A collective effort from KKR’s bowlers restricted RR to not score big, adding just 151/9 in 20 overs.
Varun Chakraborty, Moin Ali, Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana contributed equally by taking two each wickets.
Unlike RR, Kolkata did perform well with the bat. Quinton de Kock, 32, added a massive 97 not out in 61 balls. He first saw his opening partner Moin losing the wicket early, scoring just five runs.
Then he made a decent partnership with captain Rahane, who only added 18 runs but made things stable overall.
The South African wicket-keeper-batsman, at last, guided Angkrish Raghuvanshi well.
Raghuvanshi contributed 22 (not out) runs in 17 balls, finishing the game in style with De Kock.
