Hassan Nawaz not only set a new world record in cricket for Pakistan – but also came as a breath of fresh air for his nation.
Nawaz went on to score 105 not out in 45 deliveries, which is the fastest by a Pakistan batsman in T20I. This helped them chase a massive total of 205.
New Zealand added a huge 204 in 19.5 overs first.
The game in Aukland on Friday was a do-or-die contest for Pakistan in the five-match series against New Zealand, as they lost the first two games.
So losing the third one would have made the next two games uninfluential.
Nawaz, first set a good opening partnership with Mohammed Harris; scoring 41 runs in 20 balls. Then he made the match-winning unbeaten partnership with Salman Ali Agha, who added 51 runs in 31 balls.
This made the away side win the game by nine wickets with 24 balls remaining. However, New Zealand are still leading the series 2-1 after three games.
Pakistan need to win the remaining two T20Is to win the series.
