Frenkie de Jong’s time at Barcelona will last for an even longer period as the mega Spanish giants are planning to extend his deal, according to Sport.
The 27-year-old midfielder joined Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from Ajax. In 166 La Liga appearances, De Jong has scored 14 goals.
In 2018, the former Willem II midfielder made his senior debut for the Netherlands. He has scored two goals in 55 apps for the national side.
During the COVID-19 virus impact in 2020, De Jong even took a pay cut to make Barca get out of the financial battle.
His present deal is set to expire in the 2026 summer. With just a year left after the 2024-25 season in De Jong’s present deal with Barca, the Dutch international has many options ahead.
In recent years, Manchester United have shown a great level of interest in him. Now even Arsenal are monitoring the situation as per the media reports.
